Verlie's Curves is proud to be an active participant in our local community. Our club along with our members contribute to make our community a better place to live. Please contact us today to find out how you can participate in our next community event.
Mid-January through February, Verlie's Curves is celebrates its annual 'I love my Curves' event. We're sharing the love with donations to a variety of good causes. We are also sharing the love by offering our members 'Share the Love' passes to give to friends to come in and try out a fun workout with us during February. If you have a friend who is a member, ask her to get one of those passes for you! If you don't know any members, come on in and we'll be sure you have a friend there by the time you leave. After all, it's all about sharing the love of Curves, and we DO love our Curves!
In December Verlie's Curves members provide gifts for 40+ local children through the Salvation Army.
In October we gather donations for 'Susan G. Komen for the Cure', and the local 'Rays of Hope'. We also do various educational activities to raise awareness.
At Verlie's Curves, we also love Heifer Project, which helps people all over the world who depend on farming for food and livelihood, but providing animals and training in their care. The agreement is that the receiver of this gift will share the first offspring with someone else in their community to help the entire community to a higher standard of living. It's the ultimate 'teach a man to fish' program. Heifer was especially helpful to small farmers in Louisiana and Mississippi after Katrina wiped out their farms.
In February, we hosted a health education presentation by the people who do Lifeline Screenings. This program has saved many lives through early detection of potentially fatal conditions.
Verlie's Curves also offers educational presentations on many other topics: chronic diseases that can be helped with exercise, better nutrition, and specific supplements; how sugars and carbohydrates are processed in the body and how to separate the good carbs from the bad; fats, and how to understand what's good for us and what's not; and Dr's Oz and Rozen's wonderful presentation on 'You on a Diet' that explains how food is digested and metabolized in the body in amusing detail. If you have a group, even a small group, that would like to attend one of these presentations, please call Verlie's Curves to make arrangements. 562-3440
